Looking at these factors, I wonder if others have opinions as to what is the most important skill of being a leader versus being a manager? And is management a redundant skill set in the new flat structured, self empowered and self led IT companies of the new global creative economy? How does Google do it? Does a leader give instructions and monitor a task along the way? Or does the leader look for new ideas and cultivate them by allowing them to grow into popular products? If this approach needs thinking about, then why does it need thinking about? Otherwise, how can others apply this approach in other industries? Does it work? If so, why? And if not, then why?
